The community of Anbalaya was started for education, faith formation and healing ministry which was most urgent in that remote village-Meenachipuram. The Pioneer Sisters were Sr. Rosaline Colaco, Sr. Vandana Varkey, Sr. Tresa Alexander, Sr. Josephine Soosairaj and Sr. Jasmine Jesudhasan. These Sisters dared to enter into the village, lived in a school with minimum facilities amidst a people torn apart by illiteracy and Casticism. The Sisters presence with healing ministry attracted these poor people to know what the healing touch of God is. The education given by the Diocesan school was insufficient to build up character and impart day today improving educational standard. As soon as the Sisters with the leadership of the Pallotine Fathers in the parish started to meet the people, gave them awareness of good education, health and hygiene, good moral and spiritual life.
The convent was built and blessed on 28.10.1998. Added to this a small room was kept for the service of healing. Today the dispensary rooms are better furnished and lot of people benefit by it. The animators of this community were Sr. Roseline Colaco, Sr. Vandana Varkey, Sr. Jayarani Anthonimuthu, Sr. Emelda Antony and at present Sr. Rosemary Savarimuthu. The achievements ever since its start are, the middle school is upgraded to Higher Secondary by the parish church. So that the Catholic children can have facility to complete their Higher Secondary education in the same school. The pastoral apostolate continues to reach out to remote village and the formation of Basic Christian Communities help people to learn God's Word more and more. The people have improved in faith, culture, education, health and hygiene.
